Bid chosen for construction of a coal-fired unit at Pljenlja power plant

Skoda Praha, Czech engineering group, bid a reported €338.5million for the construction of a coal-fired unit (254 MW) at Montenegro’s power utility, EPCG’s Pljevlja power plant. With this bid, Skoda was chosen and beat other firms, such as China Machinery Engineering Corp. (CMEC).
The existing Pljevlja coal-fired power plant is Montenegro’s only coal-fired power plant and provides up to 30% of the country’s electricity. Since 1982, the power plant has been in operation and isrun on lignite.
EPCG are reported to begin discussion with Skoda Prahato complete the details of a final contract.
